Flowers are often the last thing that is picked for a wedding. I think this is because people feel that although they will need flowers, the wedding will at least still take place with out them. It is also due to the fact that flowers do not have to be personally fitted like rings or a wedding dress.
It is how ever recommended, that you should begin researching and thinking about your wedding flowers, about one year before the wedding date. Here are a few pointers to think about:
1, Colour scheme. It is not just a case of picking some pretty flowers any more. Bride's usually want a colour scheme in their wedding, so the flowers will have to compliment other colours that are going on in the wedding, like the chair covers, or the bride's maids dresses.
2, Season ability. Different flowers grow at different times of year. A lot of brides want flowers that reflect the time of year it is. That way the flowers are making a statement, or are personal to the wedding itself. It is also more expensive to buy flowers that are out of season, because they have been artificially grown, or are imported from over seas.
3, Real or fake. To some bride's the thought of having fake flowers is a terrible idea. However, the fake flowers idea has become much more popular in recent years and this is because of two factors:
A, They last longer. Real flowers often dry up or get damaged due to the natural frailties of the organics
B, Fake flowers have really improved over the years, to the point where it is difficult to tell the difference.
4, Throwing the bouquet. If you want to throw the bouquet, then you need to think about the poor girl that catches it. Many bouquets these days are so large and heavy, that throwing them could cause some serious damage. So if you are going to throw, you may need to reduce the size of your bouquet, or purchase a separate smaller bouquet for throwing.
There are so many options when it comes to the flowers of a wedding, that it can become daunting. If you think honestly about what your flowers are supposed to achieve, then making the correct decision should not be that difficult.
